First let me say that the book itself was fantastic. It was full of a great deal of information that I was not aware of despite having gone to school for 16 years. The book itself was very easy to navigate and I found it a quick read. I thoroughly enjoyed the prayers dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi.
I had just finishing reading this book and the next day our new Pope was selected and he choose the name Pope Francis. He was the first Pope to every select this name and the fact that the Pope came from the Jesuit order to be amazing.
It was an excellent biography of St. Francis. I enjoyed reading how he started his order. I also enjoyed reading his prayers. I liked that I could mediate on the station of the cross. I encourage everyone to look up this wonderful masterpiece of work.
Who doesn't love St Francis, his ministry & all the many monasteries n convents created in his memory, his life, etc! Great read!
I have downloaded all of these books, this is the only one I have had to pay for, however, these books are so informative that I would pay for them should that become necessary. The biographies are very insightful and inspiring and the prayers are an addition to my prayer life. Wyatt North and his series on the Saints of our World are a wonderful addition to my reading, I am always looking for books that truthfully tell the history of the Saints to which we ask for intersession and am happy to have found this series. Thank you for making this available and thank you Wyatt North for taking on this project, your evangelization is welcomed.
This book is a wonderful account of this great Saint from his early life where he was extremely extroverted and led a life of leisure to his drastic change to a life of poverty. He loved every living creature and they were attracted to him. I recall doing a 500 piece puzzle of St Francis in the woods and surrounded by birds and animals when I was young. I have admired him since and have my pets blessed every year on his feast day, which is October 4th. I highly recommend this book to anyone who desires to get a better insight of this servant of God who founded the Franciscan Order and was also instrumental in founding the Poor Clares...nuns who follow in the footsteps of St. Clare, his first female disciple. Prayers to St. Francis as well as a good selection of his prayers is included.
St Francis of Assisi is one of the Church's most beloved and popular saints due to his humility and love for all of God'creatures. The Life and Prayers of Saint Francis of Assisi is a concise and through biography that shows us how he went from being a playful extroverted youth to founder of the great Franciscan order. Franciscan orders exist in not only the Catholic Church but in Protestant denominations such as the Anglicans and Lutherans. He also helped start the Franciscan nuns know as the Poor Clares.
The book includes his famous prayers and meditations such as Instrument of Your Peace and Canticle of Brother Sun. This book is part of series that also includes The Life and Prayers of Saint Jude the Apostle and The Life and Prayers of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. Any and all of the books in this series are worthy additions to any Christian's book collection.
I have visited Italy last year and, in particular, I visited Assisi and other localities associated with St. Francis of Assisi. This book presented a straight - forward description of the life of St. Francis, which was a great background in explaining what I have seen. The prayers included at the end of the book are a nice supplement to the story of his life.
